John Sullivan, a British Collector described this beautiful place as Another Switzerland in South India when he discovered the place. Ooty is short name for Ootacamund which came from ‘Othai kal mandhu’ – the name from the Toda tribal language. Its been a vacation place for British during their ruling period.

By Air: The Coimbatore airport is the closest to the Ooty. It takes 3.1/2 hours by road to reach Ooty.
By Train: Ooty can be reached from all places by train till Mettupalayam. Only one express train with name Blue Mountain Express reaches here from Chennai. Coimbatore Railway station is the nearest station with well connected trains.
By Bus: There are frequent buses available direct from/to Bangalore and Coimbatore.
